Introducing the Labrador Retriever
A New Jersey-based financial professional with over three decades of experience, Timothy Stott has served as the principal of TDGTA, LLC, in Wyckoff since 2012. In his free time, Timothy Stott enjoys reading, traveling, and playing various sports. Also a dog lover, the New Jersey resident owns a yellow Labrador retriever and is a member of the Labrador Retriever Club.
An athletic breed with a friendly temperament, the Labrador retriever was originally bred to be both a human companion and a working dog. The earliest members of the breed originated in Newfoundland, where they assisted fisherman in pulling nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish from the icy Atlantic waters.
Today, many Labrador retrievers are still employed as working dogs for hunting, search and rescue, police work, and other canine tasks. In addition to being known for their hardworking nature, these dogs have a reputation for being loyal, loving, and friendly dogs that make excellent family pets. The Labrador retriever is currently the most popular dog breed in the United States, according to American Kennel Club rankings.
Those interested in making a Lab part of their family should be prepared to care for a fairly large dog that requires daily exercise. With the proper care and attention, Labrador retrievers can be a great addition to any home, including those with small children.
